2025 Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps

In late March, CalFIRE released the 2025 Fire Hazard Severity Zone Maps for Southern California’s Local Responsibility Areas. The maps divide Rancho Santa Margarita based on the areas’ physical conditions and expected fire behavior. The zone levels are: Very High, High, and Moderate Fire Hazard Severity Zones.

The maps are available to view online now, and homeowners can locate their property addresses’ zone through the Fire Hazard Severity Zone Viewer. We invite you to learn more about what you can do to protect your home, your loved ones, and your family in the event of a wildfire.

The city is required to adopt the map prior to July 22, 2025, and City Council will consider the adoption in the coming months. The maps are currently available for public review and comment.
