With Beach Club Opening Day just around the corner on May 10, the SAMLARC team is executing annual Lagoon preparation to ensure the Beach Club is ready for a beautiful summer! This year’s season spans May 10 – August 14, with plenty of time for relaxing in the sun.
The first step in the process is removing the protective tarps that have shielded the sand during the off-season. Fresh sand has been purchased to replenish the amount lost to wind and regular wear-and-tear. The sand is spread along the banks of the Lagoon, creating the perfect beach-like atmosphere for visitors.
Chaise lounges are placed throughout the area for sunbathers, and patio tables are added throughout the deck. The Beach Club Bistro, BBQs and picnic areas are also being prepped, ensuring families and friends have everything they need for an enjoyable day by the water – complete with al fresco dining!
One of the biggest tasks is filling the lagoon with crystal-clear water, a process that takes time and precision. As the water fills, maintenance crews check that all systems—such as filtration, pumps, and safety features—are in top working order. The Lagoon’s sand bottom makes for a unique swimming experience, and requires careful maintenance throughout the season.
For those eager to get out on the water, SAMLARC is also preparing its fleet of kayaks, pedal boats, and water trikes. Over the next few weeks, these popular rental options will be brought out of storage and placed in the harbor, ready for visitors to enjoy.
