Board Meeting Highlights - May 2023

The SAMLARC Board of Directors held their monthly meeting on May 23, 2023 to discuss the projects and initiatives that maintain and enhance the SAMLARC community. The Board acted on the following key items: 

  • Congratulated the Rofer Foundation for a successful Honor Walk, and announced that one category of the 2023 Annual Fishing Derby prizes will be dedicated to the memory of Bradley Rofer. 
  • Approved sponsorship of the annual Rancho Family Fest event, hosted by the RSM Chamber of Commerce. Rancho Family Fest is anticipated to be held in October at Central Park.  
  • Accepted the resignation of Director Justin Horey from the Board of Directors. Mr. Horey served the SAMLARC community for several years, primarily through the Communications Committee. The Board thanks Mr. Horey for his dedication and passion for developing SAMLARC’s communications presence. 
  • Following Director Horey’s resignation, appointed Director Greg Schnieders to serve as the Communications Committee Chair and Director Nate Farnsworth to serve on the 2024 Election Committee 
  • Approved a sound study to take place at Altisima, Trabuco Mesa, and Cielo Vista parks to evaluate current noise levels and the potential impact of pickleball courts on each facility. Information will aggregated to further explore the feasibility of expanding SAMLARC’s pickleball capacity.  
  • Directed SAMLARC Management to file State and Federal tax forms for the 2022 year.

All items on the Consent Calendar were approved, including approval and/or ratification of a variety of work authorizations for the ongoing maintenance of SAMLARC assets, as well as contracts with professional service providers.   

  • Approved the appointment of SAMLARC Members to serve as Delegates of their respective Non-Subordinate Maintenance Districts:
    • Amy O’Neill (El Caserio III)
    • Shelley Hopkins (Vista Ladera IV)
    • Sonya Winder (California Tesoro)
    • Tim Borland (Cantobrio II)
  • Approved the appointments of Anne Chung to the Community Lifestyle Committee and Heather Fecarotta to the Architectural Review Committee.
  • As recommended by the Communications Committee, adopted revisions to the SAMLARC Facebook Policy (now named the SAMLARC Social Media Policy).
  • Authorized the Orange County Sheriff’s Department to provide law enforcement services on SAMLARC property.
  • As recommended by the LFEC, approved a variety of work authorizations for repairs to and maintenance of pools, fences, utility doors, and HVAC systems throughout the community.

The SAMLARC Board of Directors is committed to preserving the value, desirability, and attractiveness of all properties within SAMLARC. Per Civil Code 4920, the Open Session and Executive Session Agendas for each meeting are officially posted at the SAMLARC Beach Club and Business Offices. The next regularly scheduled Board of Directors Meeting will take place on June 27, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lago Santa Margarita Beach Club.
